Let's say a Grocer has "US Raised" Meat and the same cut from Brazil Is 20-30% cheaper as example. How would the consumer react?
The Prime Rib, Ribeye people may step up but the ground beef, chuck roast people with less disposable income will buy the cheaper meat.

Too long to type, go do some research on the main types of cattle businesses. A calf will trade hands 3-5 times usually before being slaughtered. Packers make the brunt of the profit in beef and 4 companies control over 80% of all protein in this country. With 3 of them being completely or majority foreign owned.

No. What you describe is healthy competition that drives prices down and benefits consumers. They were describing the opposite - conspiring on high prices to screw consumers.

If you really want cheaper products, you need cheap energy. Stop subsidizing wind and solar. Build and operate base load coal, nuclear, and natural gas. Lower prices will follow.

But the 600 lb gorilla in the room is we are stuck with the smallest per capita domestic beef supply since the 1800's d/t MASSIVE CATTLE HERD CULLING during the Biden years.
