Two U.S. destroyers transited the strait, mine clearing beginning

USS Michael Murphy and another guided missile destroyer moved through the strait as part of a Freedom of Navigation operation. They transited without Iranian interference.

Trump has also announced that mine clearing operations are beginning.

This is a big step in the right direction. Mine clearing and U.S. warships running a FONOP through Hormuz is the clearest sign yet that the U.S. is finally reasserting freedom of navigation instead of just talking about it. That’s real action, and it’s exactly the kind of move that starts breaking Iran’s leverage over the strait.

Iran is scrambling to deny that it happened or say they forced it to turn around.

The OSINT track lines up with the Axios/WSJ reporting: U.S. warships appear to have transited Hormuz from east to west into the Persian gulf, made the point, and returned. Iran immediately denying it only reinforces how important the transit was politically as their leverage depends on everyone believing they control the strait.

I'm not saying it's not happening, but one of the Axios guys has basically been a U.S./Israel stenographer the past few weeks.

Could have used Iran’s ships with their crews onboard to sweep side by side on a grid formation.

Iran probably sent out a late warning when we got through and already turned to go back so they could claim they made us turn back

We get out and tell Israel its theirs now...

Until the next Op they can do to bash MAGA.

ETA the UK better have deployed minesweepers...

This is a great move to make as negotiations are taking place.

I assume any aggression, or attack on our ships, could be the trip wire for bridges and power.

Which makes me wonder if we should target, say 25% of infrastructure if it gets to that point. Tremendous long term implications while leaving some chips for future influence.

Hats off to these crews

Not only should the US do everything in its power to assure safe passage of oil tankers/merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz but Trump should take it to the next level of geopolitical chess and inform Iran and China that if an agreement isn't reached in Islamabad the US will determine traffic through the Strait of Hormuz up to and including a 100% blockade.

Good I was wondering why we didn't have a way to mine sweep. Heck do a controlled explosion in there to knock out whatever can be down there.

I really hope that POTUS Trump posts this on Truth Social:

"Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!"

He should say “Damn the mines! Full speed ahead!”

That would make this quote his own.

Sounds like they have not begun sweeping for mines but are preparing to begin sweeping.

Seems like a good move at this point and along with the oil tankers headed to the USA to load up.

If this continues without a problem we may see a nice down move on oil futures when trading opens back up Sunday evening.

Just be honest and say that you don’t want it to happen.
