Living in Fat City, I left my apartment door unlocked when I walked down into the restaurant and club district
Nobody ever fricked with us, because Marcello owned it all. We were safe at all hours of the day.

I’m willing to keep them for the food.
And for this.

The NOLA Mafia no longer exists so not sure what deporting Sicilians in 2026 would prove. There are some who swear NOLA was safer when Marcello controlled things down there.

It's really not a function of Marcello controlling things. It purely a function of European Christian culture. Every city in Europe that has not been replaced or in the process of being replaced is pretty darn safe and beautiful. I mean it's not perfect but there is a tendency to strive for being clean safe and nice.

The thought the Marcello New Orleans crime mob was pretty well known.
When he fell out of power, Nola started to turn into a shithole.

Right. Because Italian immigrants are the same as the Somali nightmare in Minnesota.
Listen to yourself.

I bet this thread idea sounded better in your head...
Side note: My great grandfather came from Sicily through New Orleans, went through the proper channels and became a citizen, settled in Montz of all places...

Up until the late 1970's that was true.....for the most part. But today most of them are straight up legit. Now the tourist business like NO Tours was chest deep in it until relatively recently..

My friend who retired from nopd said they knew most of the Italian restaurants were fronts for money laundering but they were untouchable as they were protected by powerful people.
I'm sure the food is very good.
