Not sure why people conflate “the press”‘with the mainstream media. You don’t support the Nick Shirley’s of the world?

Of course I support the Nick Shirley’s of the world because as my previous post which you replied to had stated, I’m interested in defending anyone who is informing us in order to hold government accountable.

The Corporate MSM have quite often referred to themselves over the years as “the press” and yes, my previous post was directing most of my disdain for the Corporate MSM whom I believe are controlled and do not provide a beneficial service for keeping a public truthfully informed.

So you're saying the people that entered the church weren't spewing politically biased bullshite? You'd be ignorantly wrong. They were spewing anti ice bullshite because of their political bias.

Which is protected speech, no?

No one is arguing the first amendment allows you to enter any property you want

Hence why I am confused why you keep bringing up the content of their speech. That’s not the issue here.

I was responding to a poster who said he’d like to see “the press” abolished as a general statement. That would include the Nick Shirley’s of the world.

1. Freedom of the Press isnt freedom to break the law.

2. Freedom of the Press is only valid when the press is neutral and objective, not when it is by and large the propaganda wing of one particular ideology.

I wouldn’t support Nick Shirley interrupting a church service.

But you would support him being allowed to gather and disseminate information? Great, looks like you agree with me and not the poster who wants to get rid of “the press.”

That’s your opinion to think so. Going a step further and requesting government stifle their speech bc you don’t like what they have to say (or don’t find it beneficial) is nonsense.

It’s shocking to me how many of you are this dumb. Someone or some entity disseminating news as a member of “the press” does not have to be neutral nor objective to enjoy first amendment protection. Do they not teach civics in high schools anymore?

If it’s open to the public, I can check cars on private property too until I am told to go away.

My yard is open to the public if I'm having a yard sale. But it's private property like a church. A church can exclude protesters. A church can exclude everybody except members of the church. Because it's private. Your example proves my point 'until I am told to go away'. They told the morons to go away. They did not.

You jumped to your own conclusions.

Nowhere have I said I was “for government” stifling.

I said I didn’t care if Corporate MSM remained and my wish is the the Corporate MSM propagandists will eventually not hold the power and influence they have due to lack of credibility, ratings and eventually money.

Free Market stuff.

I’m never for the current admin nor any admin ever deciding what the public receives for information.

I have not followed very closely, but looks like what he did went beyond simply reporting news and strayed into illegalities.

Im all for it. I was disgusted the way leftists went after journalists during covid for simply telling the truth from their living rooms.

So what is your position?

Nearly 50-year journalist here.

It’s not a blank check.

And the traditional attitudes have become impossible to navigate since anyone with an iPhone can call himself a journalist.

Ignorance of the law is not a defense from breaking that law.

There is freedom of press. Press, like anyone else, can break a law only if they are prepared to suffer the consequences.

Our press isn’t the press anymore, they are the enemy of the people and should be shut down 100%. If we had an honest press, Trump’s approval would be in the hundreds.

Trump is correct that "the press" is the enemy of the people. At the end of the day, all of us are either patriots or subversives.
No patriot would do what Lemon did. The press should support American values. They should have no special rights or consideration when they support communist subversives.

Yes, don lemon himself participated in the illegal activity (storming the church) and is now trying to claim he's immune because he was there as a journalist. Apply that same line of reasoning to any other crime and his defense quickly falls apart.

Isn't there video (his) from before the storming into the church where he talks about the "operation" and how the location needed to remain secret in order to not tip of the authorities, and he used the word "we" repeatedly - making clear that he was part of the operation?

Going to be hard to argue he was just press, there to report.
