LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker reportedly interviewed for the head coach job at Memphis, according to New Orleans Sports reporter Garland Gillen.

Baker also interviewed for the Tulane job earlier this week.

Many LSU fans were hoping to see Baker remain on Lane Kiffin's staff. Stay tuned.

Lane should hire a DC.

I would like for Baker to return. But it sounds like he's looking elsewhere. Lane might as well too.

Even if he has no intention of taking the job, interviewing for HC positions is good practice.

Im assuming he does indeed have intention, lol. But I agree with your point.

Dude...Kirby gave you the blueprint. You stop LK's offense in practice for 4 or 5 years...THEN.. make a jump.

If I were him I'd stay a few years and build a champion at LSU. Smart's and Saban's DCs got big time jobs (Tennessee, Florida, Oregon, etc).

Leverage that pay day baw.

You want coaches that other schools want. Saban was very understanding about that.

I don't get how people don't understand this. The just move on crowd opinion is shortsighted, at best. Who wants a DC or OC that no one else wants?

Has nothing to do on weather he wants to be at LSU. He is looking at opportunities that are promotions and pay raise. All of us would do the same thing.

Except he isn't gonna get a raise at these schools. LSU will match him up to $3.5 million probably. Maybe more.

That would be an awesome hire for the Memphis Tigers

It’s a good way for Blake to drive his demand up. Definitely pressure Tulane some.

Interviewing at Toolame sounded reasonable. But doing a second interview sounds like he wants another job

Blake, don't worry about showing up for the Memphis interview. I heard coach O is going there also

O seems to be going everywhere

He may or may not be ready for a HC job now. But you take the interviews. Eventually the will try the HC path, who wouldn’t want to. But you take the interviews and see what they offer. You say no and it limits you down the road.

Yeah Lane will be hiring a new DC

Just give Blake a $250K a year raise and get him back in the fold. His day as a head coach is coming very soon even if Tulane doesn’t pick him.

Yeah this might work, if it were 1999

Baker is gone. If he wanted to stay he would not have interest in moving on. Find a DC.
