What positions do you prefer to get in the Draft vs FA?

Early on my preferance is WR, or a big bodied TE, and front 7 defence.
O linemen can be brought in from fa, and you can still get a gem of a rb in the later rounds.
D Backs can be found all over.
Am I thinking about this wrong?
Not looking at this from what we need neo (although I do think we need pass catchers and to shore up our aging front 7) just in general.

I'd rather go defense early. I think some good rbs and wrs will be around in the 3rd.

DE/Edge in round 1

Bain, Bailey, Faulk or even Reese would make our D elite.

Then WR, IOL, or massive DT in 2 and 3.

After that just try to fill out depth with players that have a chance to start some day.

I BIGLY want a wr with the 8 pick. Shough has shown us what he’s capable of with the weakest wr room in the league. I’d like to see just how much better he could be with another legit weapon out there.

Bain, Bailey Reese, or Downs in no particular order. Possibly Tate if all 4 of those are gone.

Agreed & with every choice. I always find drafting a need position doesn’t work out often enough.

Edge rusher in round 1.

Then OG, WR, TE, NT, OLB, and CB in some order in the other picks.

I think Guards are the easiest to find deep in the draft of those positions but definitely a huge need.

I would also love to upgrade our Punter but would hate to waste a pick on that

Offense line. I wouldn’t be opposed to moving back for an extra 3rd round pick

This has been discussed previously, there aren’t a lot of great OGs in FA and the price will be hefty for the good ones.

At pick 8, we need to get a great player. We have a lot of needs, so we don’t really need to be so position specific.

IMO, Downs, Mauigoa, Delane, Bailey, and Reese are the can’t miss guys in this draft. I haven’t seen enough of Fano or Love to say that, but they are highly regarded.

Bain had two great games, but I wasn’t impressed by him in the games I watched during the season. He got most of his TFL and sacks in two games this year. He also has bad measurables which makes him questionable IMO.

Faulk has great measurables, but hasn’t produced a ton and I wasn’t that impressed by the games I saw him in this year.

Tyson has been hurt every year and he doesn’t have elite speed or athleticism. Tate seems like the safest WR, but he seems very good, not necessary elite. There seems to be a lot of very good, not unquestionably elite WRs in this class. (Boston, Bell, Lane, Lemon, Concepcion, Serratt, Bernard, etc.)

I think if Downs is there, you have to take him.
After that, I lean more towards getting Mauigoa and kicking Fuaga inside to OG. That makes us almost an elite young OL compared to the crap it was this year. I think protecting our young QB is paramount, and it will also help our run game.
But if we get on of those other top guys, I won’t be mad. We should have some good options.

I'm out on Faulk. Two sacks in 2025? No thanks.

I just want a half decent guard in FA and maybe a utility player on the O line.

I definitely don’t want to pay up for a RB like Breece or someone when you can get a “premium” guy with no nfl tread in the 2nd or 3rd round for a fraction of the price. The one RB I do really like is Sean Tucker from the Bucs who looks unreal every time he plays significant reps.

I’d like to draft a smaller twitchy WR with real RAC ability and maybe bring in a modest guy like a Doubs level player to at least fill out with an NFL caliber 4 deep. We’ve been awful.

I'd say like many others just build on defense first.

Defense is a strength so why not build on that?

Edge, safety, WR.

Edges cost a shite ton. An elite safety makes this defense elite. We need a true 1.

I believe Kellen’s offense and shough’s ability can get by with a good WR, not a great one, but we need a true 1.

Olave had a hell of a season and if there is a team out there willing to give us WR1 comp for him, I’d move him. He’s an elite 2. He simply cannot utilize the full tree like a prototypical 1 can, and having access to the full tree will be another piece to the puzzle.
