Moving on from Sam Darnold after his great season with the Vikings last year, only for Sam to take his next team to the Super Bowl the very next year, proved to be costly for Kwesi.

Timing is a bit odd

Definition of fireable offense for a GM

He's also had some bad misses in FA and drafts.
Lewis Cine 2022 (could have had Jamo at 12 that deaft, but traded to Detroit). Out of league I think.
JJ McCarthy is still TBD but doesn't look promising.
Darnold and Daniel Jones walking.
OL signings have been spotty with injuries(Ryan Kelly and Will Fries)

Bears and Packers are once again primed to run that division for the next 5 years - Vikings and Lions had their chance and in the Vikings case, they absolutely blew it. Justin Jefferson is going to be one miserable person until he gets to the end of '28 and can get out of there.

You think Jordan Love is him? The packers have run the division for so long due to the ineptitude of the others.

They need to hire someone who is actually qualified

Do we really think the GM had the final say on moving on from Darnold?

The Vikings had to start three different QBs due to injuries. They had bad injuries on the oline too
They still went 9-8. The Packers went 9-7-1

They’re 2nd to last in cap space for next year. They couldn’t afford a Darnold or Jones if they wanted. The Loomis playbook of overpaying for trash results

He can take a job at the learing center now

With all of the changes happening in the NFL.
I am still freaking amazed that Zac Taylor is still in Cincy.
I mean, he's better than like probably one whos fired or resigned? Stefanski?
Poor old Joe and Jamarr.

Is he the one who traded away D. Hunter?

Hunter left in free agency. They did replace him with Jonathan Greenard, who came from the Texans. Greenard had 12 sacks and was a probowler in '24 but didn't do much this season.

The Bears will run that division for the next 5-10 years. They have good pieces.

I think it was more than that, and this opinion is with the benefit of hindsight.
When they signed Darnold in 2024 it was on a one year deal to be a backup...because to that point in his career he'd pretty much been a bust relatively to his draft position. McCarthy was supposed to be the starter. No GM plans for his rookie starting QB to be lost for the season in the preseason.
Darnold had a good season last year, but the Vikings had one of the more improbable seasons you could have. They were 9-1 in one score games. Darnold was then terrible in their one playoff game. He took 9 sacks! I think most GMs would have gone with the cheaper rookie they drafted in the first round who didn't get a chance to play in his first season over signing a vet with an outlier season to a big contract.
This wasn't like Atlanta who signed an expensive vet to a long term deal be their starting QB then drafted a QB in the top 10.
