I'll never feel sorry for someone making millions to fail

Buddy the program was already at the bottom of the canyon. Mchmahon just couldn’t figure out how to lead his team out of it.

I think we had zero scholarship players and a bad reputation, plus NCAA crosshairs when he was hired.

It isn’t bad luck, it’s bad coaching. Sorry.

You’ll see him as a head coach in the NCAA tourney elsewhere

Zero chance. The job responsibilities have changed since he was at Murray State and he's awful at it. Maybe that could be considered his bad luck, but any decent coach should be able to adjust. He hasn't.

He wasn't given a fair shot financially to even think about competing until this season and two of his most important players are lost for extended time.

Dennis Gates has turned around Mizzou twice during McMahon's tenure, including after a zero conference win season. Mcmahon is terrible and if you feel for him you're stupid. Every season gets derailed because of injury, then figure out you need a backup plan ya dumbfrick.

I agree that he’s not a bad coach, but he doesn’t push the needle and provides no spark from an entertaining value

Yep. You either someone with energy or a straight up dickhead here to win like Wade or Hurley

Re-reading my post and I don’t see where I said McMahon doesn’t suck and that I feel bad for him…
My point was that he didn’t inherit a happy thriving program.

I don’t like the way the program is going but let’s not pretend he wasn’t set up to fail. I don’t remember the number but pretty sure we lost everyone after Wade was fired

So has everyone else who has made a coaching change in the last 4 years

At first I thought the defense of the least successful LSU coach (in any sport) of the 21st century was people just being contrarians for the sake of doing so. Then I thought it was just sympathy. But then you realize it’s just that our fanbase doesn’t know diddly-shite about college basketball.

McMahon has less returning players THIS season than he had in year 1

Vanderbilt seems to be doing fine after getting rid of Stackhouse and Stackhouse had a better record than McMahon.

Goodness and to think we had to deal with McFraud and the ultimate fraud Brian Kelly all together for the past few years now. What horror now that I think of it. Thank God Verge landed Kiffin to revive the football program. Now if Verge can just right the ship with basketball

Every LSU coach that has been fired since 1994 has to be thinking “where the hell were these fans when I was there?”

A coach with the worst winning % in 60 years of the program somehow “isn’t a bad coach”. “Good coaches” don’t lose 75+% of their conference games. Now cue the excuse brigade…

All of those coaches dealt with being 3rd fiddle in terms of fan support. They didn’t have to deal with being 3rd fiddle in terms of money to build a roster

I think this is a rational take. There will be many who don't like it.

This 100%. I've been involved with some programs in town that he is also involved in and he's a genuinely good guy. My kids have gone to his camps the last 3 years in a row. And it's gonna hurt but it just isn't working out. I don't know why. It's time for a change, really for everyone involved.
