What place was LSU last year in the portal?

What a ridiculous post, Kiffin has not played one game yet. He goes 8 and 4 next year, you still agree with yourself. Hold your horses before we go there.

Absolutely. How long does it take to grab the phone from an assistant coach and say, “hey man, we hear you’ve been setting it on fire this season. We can’t wait to get you to Baton Rouge to see LSU football and Saturday night in Death Valley in person. The sky is the limit here at LSU. Yada yada… if you need anything at all don’t hesitate to call or text me. Have a great day!”

I’m convinced that staff used the recruiting services to dictate their board,

Also much of this portal class is not (in theory) pure one year rentals. He’s trying to address needs and lay a good foundation

Kelly could not roster build for shite

Damn! You are good. A true closer. How long have you been recruiting? You really are persuasive. Players will be lining up with this strategy.

He never could gain traction with the players coming in from high school. They just leave so quick when they don’t play and they could just never get a good pulse on the balance. The staff changes didn’t help

Kelly was not good. But we went into the season thumping our chest about the rebuild of the program. Citing the talent and depth.

Let’s not be disingenuous regarding that.

For 10 million a year, I would answer every text, call and email at any hour for a recruit.

What confirms it??? Usually in a post you are supposed to back up what you say in the subject line.

LSU did well in the portal because of the brand behind LSU. I highly doubt one of the portal guys last year came to LSU because they wanted to play for Brian Kelly.

He obviously was given a lot of money last year, but it wasn't allocated that well. He brought in more WRs than we needed, but didn't really fix the OL. Even fans knew the OL was the biggest question mark on that team too.

This misses the point in the worst way.

Yes, the overall portal per player was good. But it didn’t mesh. It didn’t have an identity as to what Brian Kelly wanted to do because Bryan Kelly didn’t have a concrete plan in place.

Lane Kiffin has a plan for the players he has brought on board. Some are play right away, summer development, some are give the opportunity to see what they can do.

And the honest answer is, if the best players we brought on board were really good in 2025 (and most were not) They were all out of eligibility this year.

If the best players that Kiffin has brought on board work out, most will have at least one more year of eligibility.

It is possible that next year we don’t go into the portal for a quarterback, depending on what happens with Pop Houston.

The ideal scenario is that Leavitt is the consensus number one pick in the draft and we will be rolling with Longstreet for 2027.
