No he wasn’t, but thanks for proving my point
He threw for over 1,000 yards and 11 TDs in three games behind an historically bad oline what the frick are you smoking? On pace for 4,000 yards passing and over 40 TDs isn’t good enough for you?

He's the future
Stop with the "savior" BS

Saw his high school highlights. He is very good. He has strong arm like JD but more accurate. He is absolutely a pass first QB but with enough athleticism and quickness to extend plays. IDK if he has the mental processing to make plays in the SEC yet but all the signs in terms of his high school career and pedigree indicate that he was born with the right mental processing speed. The downside is his size.
Every QB who signs with a SEC school has great highlights. That's why they are called "highlights". But fans think he is the "savior" because they haven't seen any negatives yet. All most have seen are highlights...where everyone looks great.
Jarrett Lee was going to be the next great LSU QB after the 2008 Auburn game...until he wasn't. Jordan Jefferson was going to be the next great QB after the 2008 Peach Bowl...until he wasn't. Anthony Jennings was going to be a great QB following his fill-in performance vs. Arkansas in 2013...until he wasn't. Brandon Harris was going to be an all world QB...until he wasn't.
Howard may be the greatest QB to ever play for LSU. Or, he many never play a meaningful snap at LSU. No one knows for sure. Not even the coaching staff. So to take a definitive stance one way or the other is ridiculous.

Got no idea, i had not seen the guy play consistant football in almost 2 years
Posted on 11/28/22 at 11:45 am to sunnydaze
He's the savior because he is highly rated, highly thought of, and he has never made a mistake on the field for LSU. It's a perfect place to be, really.

Why do so many think Howard is the savior of LSU fb?
Because he was the #1 ranked QB in HS for a while. 2 different injuries probably hurt his final ranking, but he was a 5 star recruit most of his JR/SR year. He's a polished QB that has been noted by scouts as being ready to make the step to the next level. He is able to make throws at all levels with anticipation and accuracy. His only real drawback is he's barely 6'1 and needs to add some bulk and durability.
From his scouting report:
quote:
Adequate frame with lean build that should add some mass in college. Established a following as an elite camp performer early in high school career before taking over varsity starting duties. Has posted encouraging testing numbers early in career (4.76 40, 4.40 shuttle). Consistent, accurate passer to all levels. Steps into throws and gets great zip on balls to the short-to-intermediate range. Posted stellar production in breakout junior campaign. Threw a lot of reps while also valuing the ball, as evidenced by only one INT per 63 pass attempts (five in 316 throws). Not a true dual-threat but functionally mobile with ability to extend plays outside the pocket. Remains accurate on the move. Squares shoulders and fires even when on the run. Plenty of arm strength but still probably some juice to squeeze out at the top end, which should come with add physical mass/strength. Typically stays on top of the ball but will have one sail a bit every once in a while. Possesses a good QB pedigree. Seems quite polished relative to age and could be a particularly high-floor QB at the next level. Projects to high-major competition with long-term NFL Draft potential.

Maybe because Kelly himself said that Howard knows he's the best QB on the team.

look, daniels is frustrating to watch, but in no real world scenario does he lose the starting position to a redshirt freshman with zero SEC experience if daniels is still on the roster.
I would hope the head coach is smart enough to give every QB an opportunity to win the job.

then you have fans that think daniels is going to stick around to be the backup QB. news alert: that isn't happening.
He is free to transfer.

I'm sure BK isn't going to go into spring thinking JD5 will be the starter. He will have the competition and pick the best player. If Howard isn't picked as the starter, I'm fine with that. We have seen these highly touted QB's come in and flounder. It would likely take Howard half the season just like JD5 to really grasp playing in the SEC.
The aTm loss is not on JD5 IMO and I'm not ready to discount him as the starter for 2023. This loss was on the defense.

I saw him play a few times. He’s legit

How many of you actually saw him play before?
I have. Also, I believe our head coach said he was the most talented QB on our team. He is redshirting at the request of the coach.

If it takes another Joe Burrow for LSU to win NCs then Howard has a looooong ways to go. Unreal expectations will feed the melt on TD... but hey, that's why it exist right?

By one recruiting service. The other three had him as a four star which is still very good. He's the son of an LSU QB that grew up in South Louisiana whose name has been floating around message boards such as this one since he was in the 8th grade. He's an easy target for overzealous LSU fans to set incredibly high expectations for.

This post is my exact thoughts. Half of this board has only seen his highlights and the other half probably hasn’t even seen that. He was rated very high, almost as high as Jayden Daniels when he was coming out of high school. I hope he is the best quarterback of all time but fact of the matter is that Walker hasn’t thrown a single pass in a college game, so no one here knows how good he will be.

i just want a QB who isn't afraid to throw the ball down the seam
Posted on 11/28/22 at 12:16 pm to Lester Earl
Far from it. Anyone who follows this kid knows his potential. He is literally better than Arch Manning (whose name is his biggest asset).

And another one.
Thanks for proving my point

When many people were saying before the season started that Howard was already looking like the best QB out of them all then that says something.
Posted on 11/28/22 at 12:22 pm to chadr07
Ever notice how brian kelly talks so highly of him? Kely also stated the kid has the most confidence of all of our Qbs saying WH knows hes the best Qb on the roster and didnt dispute it. That should tell you all you need to know.
