Indeed so. On the Money Board at that.

Seriously when I was a young lad, I looked at an upward climb to zero. Not even funny. I feel blessed now.

No cause for celebration when bills were piled like a decoration.

That's how we make money.

Stock market is a way for the patience to make money and the impulsive to lose money. I bought the whole way down and I’m buying the whole way up. I buy every week at the same time like clockwork. And I always beat the market with this strategy

That’s what my wife and I do. Fund my Roth in January and I buy weekly with my 401k and she’s buys bi-weekly. We will lump sum invest throughout the year when we have a surplus in our HYSA.

If we are being honest i'd say 2022 was the last time the bears were really out in full force.

What’s a good way to position myself to buy more in future dips in my Roth and 401k? I also have a self directed brokerage account tied to both.

Are you referring to your normal monthly contributions that are spread over the year, such as in a. 401k, that are made no matter how the market is doing?

I’m guessing most people stayed put and didn’t buy or sell too much.
It’s not often that the POTUS deliberately tanks the stock market. I for one didn’t think those absurd tariffs would ever take effect so I bought, but in modest amounts. For those in the know Liberation Day may go down as the most successful pump and dump scam ever.

My 401 K plan offers about 25 investments. I move in and out the Stable Value Fund (bonds, treasuries, CD's ) and the S & P 500 Index Fund. There is no fee to do this.

When the index drops 10% I make the transfer and move an additional amount if it falls another 5%. When it returns to the highest previous close, the S & P investment returns to Stable Value. I have the profit (additional shares or "units" as it is referred to purchase on the next meaningful dip.

I am unable to do this every year because the market has increased. This, of course, is good for all of us. It is not for everyone but "buy low, sell high" has worked for me for over the last twelve (12) years.

Good luck and all, but this costs you money over time man. If you’re comfortable with equity risks, buy equities and hold them by and large. There are plenty of multi year periods where you’re out of the market.

Oh, they're still on this board, they're just not in this thread

I didn't realize how many MT folks were Biden/Harris voters until Trump brought out their extreme TDS. And even if they did vote for Trump they were ready to get a do-over on their vote. All in a matter of a few weeks. Most of these fear mongering folks shouldn't have even been that worried unless they were already retired, but they let politics infest their investments. I retired in January, so I could've been one of those scared pups, but I just sat back, watching people jumping off cliffs and didn't do a fricking thing. AAPL is still down pretty big for me and I have a sizable amount there, but again, I just sit back and wait instead of panicking. I'm still back to where I was and higher because of many other investments performing well.

MT gets the same one or more guys that continues to make alters every few months when the market takes a slight break from moon blasting.

They literally last like 3 weeks at most.
