I wasn’t comparing the situations at all, I think you’re smart enough to know that
I’m simply going off the guys own perimeters for what he wanted to happen for ESPN to discuss non sports/political related events that effect sports. The guy described the event as a “unrelated event that has caused a postponement of games”— which you could easily describe 9/11 in the exact same type of sentence
point is you have to draw the line somewhere, and once you draw the line you’ve made it political and upset one side or the other.

Planned a beach trip to St. Pete this summer. Rays are gunna be in town. Thought it would be cool to catch a game. frick that. Will be spending my $75-$100 on tickets at the local golf course

Progressive ideas being pushed by the left have infiltrated every aspect of life. I was the most anti-political person possible prior to covid. To say I’ve been red-pilled since then is an understatement. It’s impossible not to see it all day every day, especially in pop culture, which is what drives this message board. I’d love to have discussions that don’t eventually go down the political road, but that’s a direct reflection of the environment we’re in now.

But even then, I didn’t tune into ESPN to find out what happened and get true perspective on it. I watched news channels that night, much like I would do tonight if/when I want informed news and analysis from people whose job is to cover news, not sports.

Theres one decent show. Its get up. The rest suck. All they talk about is football and I don't mind mike Greenberg as a host. I used to like mike and mike so I dont mind it. The other shows suck

I don't watch it like I used to but I still do at times, like you - I change the channel when they get off sport and on to socio-political topics, which is often, but the remote saves me every time.

Most of the people who care about "sports only" are working during the day. They aren't on our couch during those hours to give them views.
I'm not sure that their business model for those shows are bad. They have to cater to what the people actually tuning in want to hear about. PTI and first take have been unbearable for a while now.
The bad strategy is interjecting it into live events, and prime time slots & weekends when the "sports only" crowd is off of work & tuning in. And the ratings usually show.

I used to catch Get Up here and there when I was working from home last year, but then it even got to where they talked about sports less than other shite so I tuned out.
I don't mind it when they focus on sports. As much as I want to hate Greenburg, I kinda don't.
