re: Conan O'Brien not a fan of comedians relying on hate of Trump, instead of actual comedy

Love or hate Leno, he punched left and right.
I think Conan is a typical default Hollywood Lib but he kept and edge and fairness to him the whole career. His Haiti stunt was literally just that but at least he had something to fall back on other than Orange Man Bad (I think Trump is a bad person)
Honestly, even though he’s corny… I respect Fallon for having anything other than Trump jokes. Kimmel, Colbert, and Meyers just seem like bitter, angry people.
As a conservative, I laughed heartily at the Colbert Report.

Conan is my favorite celebrity. This really pleases me.
I'm so tired of the constant hate.

I think Kimmel is suffering from the same thing Stern fell victim to, giving into the desires of their replacement wives to be part of the Hollywood progressives crowd rather than making fun of them (as they would have in their younger years).
Pussy remains undefeated.

I love Conan. He rarely touches on politics. Even his guests steer clear of it for the most part.

Promoting his travel show? Conan O'Brien Must Go?
Funny, his episode list doesn't include Haiti as a travel stop.

Several years ago, during Trump’s first term I saw John Mulaney live.
He had a bit making fun of Trump, about how he was like a horse let loose in a hospital.
It was funny, not mean spirited and even as a Trump supporter I got it and laughed.
That is how comedians should do it.
It is perfectly fine to make fun and joke about Trump but if a comedian does it in a way that is funny and both sides can get the joke and laugh, everyone wins.

Recently I believe Conan has shown a lot more TDS.

Would not take advice from Conan. He killed the Reiners.

It's ok to not like him...I don't like him either, but you are flat out wrong that "most people don't like him"

Correct, but he’ll be canceled by the left

There are more of us than there are of them.

there’s a reason the scene in Austin with Kill Tony crew and Shane Gillis is just growing more and more popular, it’s true comedy that pushes the boundaries and purposely goes at the low hanging fruit of left…you can’t really find that anywhere else

Dana Carvey and Bush senior could always joke about it together.
Newt Gingrich had Chris Farley come do his impression in the House.
There’s a way to be funny and throw jabs without it being pure hate (and not funny).
Instead, all of these younger guys have let their total war hate kill off an entire industry of late night TV.

That was a time when people did share a core value system and saw each other just as different takes on it.
We aren't there anymore.

Comedy is also a form of escapism. It's where we go to forget our troubles and aggravations. People who hate their jobs, are sick of the news feeds they get and go home to a crappy marriage or whatever don't want another shite sandwich shoved down their throat - even if it's a clever, well made shite sandwich. They just want to laugh and forget all of that stuff, just for a moment.
This is the crux of it for me, not only for late night television but movies and television and sports in general. These people are entertainers, but believe themselves to be some moral compass of the nation. I pay money to be entertained, so dance, monkey, dance. I don't want to hear about your political or social positions.

The old Late night with Conan O’Brien is one of the best talk shows ever. After Carson it was my favorite.
