Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the first half of the film better than the second half in the boat.

100% with you. Once you saw the monster it didn’t lose something per se but it was a different kind of scary. The music and first person perspective was the ultimate in suspense to me.

The shark continuing to break was THE most fortuitous mishap in movie history to me.

Coincidentally, 50 years ago I vowed to never go in the water.

That summer when ever i jumped in I would swim as fast as i could to that ladder. you know just in case a giant great white was watching me. I even did that in pools for a while as well.

I don’t think there is a person alive older than 30-35 who hasn’t been there at least for a summer

Supposed to run late August and at Labor Day

I’m actually doing a Jaws themed white van with quotes on it. Jaws seat covers etc.

I had an awesome 50th birthday back in January when my wife and I were in Sydney. We really wanted to go to the Opera House and much to my delight when we went online they were doing a 50th Anniversary screening of Jaws with the Metropolitan Orchestra playing the music. It was so fun and the crowd was involved. My 50 for 50 story

Robert Shaw should have won the best supporting actor Oscar. Wasn’t nominated.

some of the greatest lines ever from that movie

Saw it and then went to the beach - everyone was scared to go in the water.

GOAT actual movie… timing is everything and this one hit at the right time. Near perfection.

I know it's a product of the technology of the time, but as great as the first 2 movies are, I still hate when we see the actual shark and how bad it looks.

I was going to post this exact thing. It is still one of my favorite scenes from any movie.
