CJ on ingram last night
quote:
“I envisioned him being dominant,” McCollum said. “He’s being dominant. He’s a basketball savant. He’s continuing to learn, ask questions, study. Watching film on the (training) table, watching film on the bus, taking care of his body now better. All those things are why he’s having success and why you see it on the big stage.”

I never understood why people don't put more stock in player's drive to be great AND when they demonstrate they can channel it to consistently and appreciably get better on the court.
Like threads like this, and the BI isn't clutch and never will be, were crazy to me when its like do you not look at the who this guy is and the record he has established!!
He has gotten better every year, improved every year, is first one in, last one out type work ethic, is only 24. Like all the signs are that he will only get better, but yet people wrap themselves in pretzels to declare BI wont do what he has shown he will do, which is continue to get better and better.

Most of it is low basketball IQ. People thought he was a selfish chucker who takes bad shots.
He’s an elite mid range scorer and can score on three levels, with rapidly improving playmaking. And you could see it from his Duke days.
Tatum is better, for now. But it’s not over yet.

Tatum and Brown
That's what we wanted, but consider the rumors was tatum was untouchable.
Rumor IIRC was Brown + Smart, picks. That vs Ingram + etc and its hard to say.

That video of Brandon clowning with the sideline reporter girl and the girl’s response to him told me what kind of guy he is. He is a big kid living his dream that everyone likes. She basically spoke to him like she was his sister.

Tatum was definitely on the table at one point, it may not have been much else. Tatum didn’t really break out until the season after. McNamara was even on here spouting he didn’t think he turn out to be more than a Danny Granger level type player.
They also had what looked to be a high lotto pick too that was available. Tatum and Brown both may have been had at one point, but Kyrie going nuts torpedoed that.

I see Ingram and I see value. What we can turn him into. He is not a foundational piece. He is not bought in. He is a lazy defender and checks out for games at a time. He is a gifted scorer. A decent number 3 or 4 guy on a competitive team with a strong coach/culture.

Yeah there are some golden nuggets of terrible takes by BRM.

BI needed to get over a mental hurdle with how he had played late in the fourth quarter, and there is no question that he struggled in that situation more times than not. However, he looked to be turning corner in second half of this season and had really stepped up in the playoffs. No doubting he has elite talent and a great person.

He was being doubled or tripled while playing with NAW and Graham. Playing with other star players helps.
Some of Y’all have greatly underestimated his mental makeup. Dude is a tough minded player.

This is the worst take in the history of worst takes. Dude is straight from NOLA East. CJ is definitely from Gentilly. Herb is that uptown rulah! Trey is all kinds of garden district.

Bump! Playing hurt on the road!
Has he “bought in”!?!
Has he “bought in”!?!

BigR-TardMark: "ok, he's bought in, but i'm not seeing the value in his play when the opposing team has to double him most of the game. Definitely needs a value reassessment. Kind of like how GS needs to reassess bringing the King in at center next season. The pool is about to get deep baby!"
