A lot of good professionals out there that f'd off through school.
I'm ok with it if they are good at their job and have common sense.
Some really smart high GPA doctors that know the book but don't have any common sense. Just depends.

If they are/were AOA, you know they did pretty well in med school. IYKYK.

510=30; 528=45
I have taken them both, the new one is easier to game

They are still called Dr no matter their graduation rank

The reason most of you did not care is because standards were never this poor. What you are seeing now and in the past few years is atrocious and there will be lots of malpractice as a result -you are damn right I care.

one would hope "the boards" will weed them out. this, after the professional school let them slide through, after they somehow got into school with sub standard grades and scores.
there were several DEI students with my wife that never passed the board.

Fine. You take the 2.7; Ill take the guy with high scores and high IQ.

I’ll say it. She only got in because she is a minority. The scale of difficulty in getting in is completely different for white or Asian men. Probably tough for Asian women too compared to black or Hispanic women. No way she gets in as a white guy or Asian.

I avoid black doctors at all cost and this is the reason why. Nothing personal.

No, that’s not true, but you can ask around and find out.

This ain’t the old days where you mostly had public and elite private non-profit med schools. The number of shitty private for-profit med schools (usually DO because it’s easy to get accredited) being paid 70-80k per person per year by the government has exploded. Many, but not all, of the students from these places are sub-par

I care about their med school grades and boards.

My GP had his office wallpapered with fear monger Covid vaccine propaganda. Got visibly angry when I said I didn’t want it. Basically called me an idiot. I’m a Mechanical Engineer.
We’re the same age. He’s pretty quiet now. Especially since he’s had multiple health issues. I’m just chugging along.

The “professions” have all done themselves in.

No, but I'm not healthcare illiterate.
I order my own labs every 3 months and let my GP do labs every 6-12 months on ins. Pretty much just use a GP to request meds and what I want to have checked out.

The 2.7 is fine if they have 99th percentile scores

Think about this for a second. Just like lawyers. There are really good law schools and there are shite law schools and people from both pass the LSAT, but that doesn't make them equal in terms of what they are good at.
Some lawyers are just good at the paper work, that doesn't mean you trust him to defend you.
And there are some lazy doctors out there as well. You don't just blindly trust them.

There is some serial downvoter DEI dipshit in here

Also back in my day the MCAT scale only went up to 45 I think
What is this 500 bullshite?
It is similar to the LSAT scores; when I took it, 48 was the max. A couple of years after that, the scores switched to 180 max. In reality, it should give a more granular indication, but it probably only makes a difference on the bottom end of a school's acceptance range.
