I hadn’t seen one of these in years until I moved to Germany. They’re a popular podiatry utensil here.

Once or twice a month. I have some dress shoes I cannot get on properly without one.

Every time I put on dress shoes. All of my dress shoes are expensive, and I expect them to last decades. I have 15-year-old shoes that still look pretty new from taking care of them. You can re-sole them when they wear down, but not a lot you can do if you are destroying the upper at the heel.

I do for dress shoes.

You don't want to damage the spine of the back of the shoe. Hardest thing to replace and it's expensive. Cobblers hate it. Great way to ruin a shoe. Feel free to do it to Johnston and Murphys but better shoes, use a horn.

I use one when I wear dress shoes, which is only a handful of times a year.

A shoe spoon is good for fancy dinner parties where the LSD kicks in before the soup course is served.

A shoe horn is good for assisting in putting on one’s dress shoes.

This came up in the AI Overview when I Googled shoe spoon:
quote:

Other Names
Shoehorn, shoe horn, shoespooner, shoe schlipp, shoe tongue, shoe helper.

I kinda dig shoe schlipp.
