Think of it like this. Most kids/teens and even college kids are usually more liberal until they make their own money and have to pay into the system. Once they feel that way they tend to shift to the right as they age.
Celebrities don’t have to do that since they make ridiculous amounts of money and are mostly unaffected by the laws thrown against the rest of us. They stay to the left and try to connect with the younger generations to make money.
It’s not rocket science.

You bring up a good point. I was too young for Vietnam, but the sentiment we were conditioned to believe was - 'You're against the war, you're a draft dodging commie loving hippie'. That's final. None of this ' support the troops but be against the war' crap. That was all commie propaganda. And it didn't help with Jane Fonda gleefully taking a photo op on a AA gun turret used to shoot down US pilots. Or 'peaceniks' spitting on men in uniform as they came home.
And remember, Bill Clinton *LOATHED the military. Never forget that one.
