I don't understand why the homeowners don't just set the house on fire. Blame the squatters and then collect the insurance and sell the lot for whatever they can get.
The reason it’s so hard is because most solutions people come up with to get them out will land you in serious legal trouble
The whole messed up point is that these people have rights by law so you can’t just move them out at gun point. It’s such a messed up libera utopia problem

A NOLA story:
I was checking on ownership of a property that was going to go at Sheriff's auction in the French Quarter and I met a man who owned the property across the street from our place. He was well known for the amount of property he owned there and elsewhere in NOLA. He introduced me to his wife, who was with him "who is also my lawyer". I said, "Well, that's convenient." She laughed and said," we were spending too much money paying lawyers to do their thing, so I went to ____ (uptown law school), got my degree, passed the bar and now I'm the family lawyer."
I said, "understood".
That's one way to handle things when you are in it as a business.

I don't even blame the squatters. They're just taking advantage of a fricked up system. I blame the system for allowing shite like that to happen.

Yep. In NYC, the commie judges in a landlord tenant dispute always side with the tenant -- no matter what. Takes forever too.

I would hire 15 illegal immigrants and tell them they can stay for six months if they remove the squatters and watch them scatter it would be hilarious

Squatters rights are the dumbest thing ever

A few canisters of tear gas through the windows should get them out.

Looks like a nice neighborhood.

That would also land you in front of a judge. In Portland. You want to take that risk?

why not use deadly force on getting them off your property.
I would double check Portland's laws before doing that. I don't know if they're different, but considering it's Portland, I wouldn't bet against it.

Why would anyone choose a course of action that automatically draws so much attention, particularly if you just bought the house (a fixer-upper at that) at a steeply discounted price? This is guaranteed to attract police, arson investigators, and insurance companies who do not want to pay.
It’s best to handle it in a manner that gets as little attention as possible.

The police told the owner he had to file a civil action to have them removed which could take a couple of years to accomplish.
This is cop-speak for “you should consider taking matters into your own hands.” It’s a wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

I tell you, the west coast is deplorable! I can't believe it is America.

I was told I was lucky it "only" took me 4 months to get some shitbirds out of my condo in Waikiki. They stopped paying rent and I went through the steps of Notice to Evict, waiting the correct time, then getting the court paperwork going and a paying someone to serve. Of course, they don't answer the door so he couldn't serve, but was able to count it after a certain number of attempts. Just this process alone I was down a month+. Then, I finally had a court date which they showed up 5 minutes late, just as the judge was about to rule in my favor. On the way out, a sleazy attorney takes their case. Now it's going to stretch out. Next court date, no progress. Thankfully, I must've gotten the one conservative judge in Hawaii as he pulled me aside and worked out a deal with me first and then spoke to the sleazy attorney. They could stay 60 more days but would have to pay one month of rent. I'd get it from the attorney. At this point, the sleazeball is dreading he took this case. I found out later they paid him $200 and stiffed him on the rest. I made him bring the money to me, he was so pissed. I got some small relief that way. Parting gift, since utilities were included, the AC was non-stop running for the last 2 months so I got $500 and $600 electric bills on top of a destroyed condo.

I don’t understand the problem. You get a large garbage bin delivered to the house and start gutting the house. Most of the Sheetrock will have to be gutted anyway to freshen things up. Any personal belonging that are not yours get trashed.
Anybody that’s not a friend or family member helping to clean up leaves or gets knuckles.
Door locks get changed. Cars that don’t belong get towe
This is a great way to get sued and lose. You can't evict someone on your own. LEO are the only ones that can legally enforce an eviction.
That said, I am guessing the landlords got fed up with the eviction process and want to have someone else deal with with for a lowered cost.
