My wife had a complete senior moment. Expired passport and leave 9/30. Update! Got it!

I’m usually a cynic on this stuff. With Covid madness are we screwed? Going to Grenada. Anyone familiar with getting a passport within like 4 weeks?
Thanks!
ETA - price isn’t an issue. Will pay whatever to guarantee we get it.

You can just do the expedited option. You should be fine. Start that process today.

Do not use any private company that says they can expedite it.

I read expedited service is running about 14 weeks
Best option is to call your congressman and hope he feels like helping

Assuming this is satire, but if you actually did read that, can you share a link?

Why? Personal experience?
There were people here talking about solid it was. There is a cost though.

Just take a look at the Department of State website. I will say this: Getting an expedited passport right now is an absolute pain in the arse.

Going to Cabo on Wednesday, got passport on Friday - took 8 weeks and that was expedited with help from Clay Higgins. Good luck.

Goddamn. Pre-Covid expedited was quick as heck.

Most likely, you are going to end up trying to get an appointment at passport office in the week before you leave.

Yeah, I’m reading some things like this too. Basically emergency international travel 72 hours and an appointment at the passport office in Canal place.

doesnt do the OP any good, but my non-expedited passport took 8 weeks, from mailbox to mailbox

Thanks, what process did you use? Online submission? Something else?

From State Dept site:
Thinking of using a courier company? Here are a few things you should know:
These companies do not operate as a part of the U.S. Department of State.
You will not receive your passport any faster than you would if you applied in person at a Passport Agency.
Courier companies charge additional fees for their services.
You are still required to appear in person at an acceptance facility if applying on Form DS-11, even when using a courier service.

Correct. Expediters cannot do any single thing you cannot do yourself. Also, there are lots of expediter scammers out there.
Do your research on the State Dept site and do it yourself. You will probably need to get an appt at the passport office. I believe you have to go to New Orleans or Houston.

This has been a popular topic on my Nextdoor app
People are contacting senators Kennedy & Cassidy’s office, and there is a woman there who is setting appointments for citizens at the passport office in New Orleans in canal place.

Where do you live? If you're in a city where your region does the processing then its fast. I actually got a passport same day, took like 6 hours

i pre-filled out the application, went to the post office on bluebonnet with the application and my birth certificate, got them to take my picture, paid the fee for standard processing and was on my way...took 10 minutes
got the email that it was received on 5/28, i got it in the mail on 8/2

Yes….probably this. The brother of my daughter-in-law had to do this when they lost his original application. He lives in Kansas City and his closest options were Minneapolis, Dallas, Houston, and Hot Springs AR of all places. He chose Hot Springs and made an appointment a week before he was to leave. They sent the passport overnight to his KC address.
