The parents of 19-year-old Texas A&M cheerleader Brianna Aguilera, who was found dead in Austin, Texas during rivalry weekend, have filed a $1 million lawsuit. The Austin Police Department suggested that Aguilera took her own life, though the cheerleader’s mother strongly disagreed...
quote:

Stephanie Rodriguez, the mother of the deceased cheerleader, ripped Austin Police for their investigation.

“Please don’t believe this lazy investigator and Investigation!” Stephanie Rodriguez wrote on Facebook.

Now, the parents of the cheerleader have filed a $1 million lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed against Austin Blacks Rugby Club and the University of Texas’ Latin Economics and Business Association. The seven-figure lawsuit accuses the two school organizations of allegedly serving their daughter alcohol before her death.

The lawsuit alleges that Aguilera was served her first drink around 6 p.m. She was allegedly continued to be served drinks for several hours, before stumbling away. Aguilera ended up at an apartment where she was supposed to spend the night. Ultimately, she fell to her death around midnight.

“We believe even more today this was not a suicide as has been suggested by police. This was either an accident or something much more sinister,” Tony Buzbee, lead attorney with the Buzbee Law Firm, who is representing Aguilera’s parents, said at a press conference.

He added: “If the police department will not do its job, then we will do it for them.”

"Texas A&M cheerleader"

She was a TAMU student and a cheerleader in high school, but not a TAMU cheerleader.
user avatar
I thought it was strange for them to have a female cheerleader.

Damn, burn! So true. Lmao

TAMU does have a female cheer squad that competes at national competitions- but I don’t think this young lady was a member of it.

it's always someone else's fault isn't it

Wasn’t she drunk too? I guess they’re going to sue the liquor company as well. That’s why there HAS to be TORT reform in this Country. No one is accountable for their own actions anymore.

I accept my part in this sad situation; however, I am judgment-proof.

The problem seems to be that these two organizations fed her alcohol with knowldge that she was a minor.

Torta reform

Terrible she died.
But, this isn't anybody else's fault.

This lawsuit bullshite needs to end.

The parents are pissed at the Austin police, so they're suing two organizations that are not affiliated with the Austin police. Makes sense.

Damn that’s like two hotties that have done this the past month in San Antonio I believe.

What they want a milli for? Because they are mad they think she killed herself? Dumb
user avatar
All I know is that an adorable young Mexican girl is dead, I think at the very least, a further investigation is needed.

Austin =/= San Antonio. Do you even geography, bro?

wow, it sure didn't take the parents much time to begin the money grab.

If they really thought there was foul play they would have filed for a lot more than 1 mil. Come on really....

How clearly would you be thinking if this were your child?

"How clearly would you be thinking if this were your child?" I sure wouldn't run straight to the plaintiff lawyers. The statute of limitations isn't anywhere close to running out. Maybe try to grieve and heal instead of heading straight for the money grab.

My child doesn't frequent the bars...NOTHING BUT BAD comes in bars, especially late at night.

She called her boyfriend and said she was going to jump. She pushed away her friends who tried to stop her. And she wrote a suicide note weeks earlier. It was a suicide. What a frivolous lawsuit. Pretty girl but obviously too emotional

The question is how much does their insurance policy cover.
user avatar
The two clubs, likely, have insurance, and they know it.

Buzbee is the same lawyer in the Deshaun Watson lawsuit. I guess he likes high profile cases.

Buzbee is a big time lawyer in Houston, even ran for mayor.

I bet that 100% this was not started by the parents but by....Tony Buzbee, lead attorney with the Buzbee Law Firm. When bad things happen you can count on some POS lawyer to swoop in and exploit folks who are emotionally fragile. It always leads to a lawsuit for some huge amount where the lawyer gets something like 25-40% of any verdict. You don't hate lawyers enough!

Gotta sue the balcony railings manufacturer too.

Their own attorney thinks it may have just been an accident? That's a bold strategy. He must have got some money upfront.

"Officers later recovered Aguilera's lost phone ... and, they discovered a suicide note written days before Brianna's death addressed to specific individuals in her life."

& two minutes prior to jumping she borrowed a phone to call her bf to tell him she was committing suicide

Try to inform yourself, before you post.

Yes, A&M has a cheer squad, and they have won several national competitions. No, they do not cheer at football games, but they DO cheer at several other sports. Yes, this young lady was one of them.

Man. Some things are...just tragic. Idk about liable. Depends on the facts. So sad regardless.

Mad at Austin police yet sue different organizations? Not sure the logic on that one. It was a tragedy what happened but not everything has to be a conspiracy or lead to a lawsuit.

Why would they think suicide and not accident?
