Criticism of our past OL

Don’t understand the logic here. We say Davis was the worst OL coach in America, and he’s the reason for our shitty O-line play. If that’s the case, why shite on the players? If your logic is correct, maybe some good coaching could rectify their bad play don’t you think? They were all highly coveted and highly ranked. So which one was it… or was it a combination of both? Maybe it wasn’t either of them and it was a scheme isssue

Scheme and coaching were definitely a problem but there was a huge lack of execution and effort for that matter

You answered your own question. Coaching was terrible but thats not an excuse for getting rag dolled by La Tech.

Both got the boot. That’s it moving on.

Bad coaching can set a player's development back. While some of these guys still have potential, the current staff probably thinks they can get some players who are ready to go know for the same money as those who are transferring out who will have to unlearn what the last OL coach taught them.

It's so much easier to jerk your knee than to think critically.

Our OL was far better in 2024 than 2025 with the same coach. The players had to be a significant part of the decline

I honestly thought getting Atkins from FSU would have fixed those run game issues. You can have the most talent in the world. If there is no motivation then it's worthless. I feel there was a lack of motivation to play for the coaches coupled with bad coaching if what caused this demise.

We have been soft on the offensive line for a long time. Had a hard time running the ball against the tougher teams. Even with the Willcampbell anchored line. I don’t know,if,it was not figuring out Zone Blocking… tipping plays. Bama knew almost every play pre snap.. except when Burrow was changing the play based on pre snap reads. For Nettie and Guice could run the ball but still not against the top teams . Yes scheme and passing impact it. Yes spread teams seem to be a little more finesse. Georgia Ohio state Indiana and others have figured this out Coaching. Recruiting scheme all, impact. The last two years. Everyone figured out we could not challenge them deep. So all of them adjusted their defense

Yes it’s certainly possible. I actually saw Curne come out of his stance and touch air completely on a play. I guess it can be taught that as an O-lineman it’s necessary to actually make contact with the defender. Overall I felt like the rest had concrete cleats and were slow AF! Maybe get stronger in the weight room? These players were pushed around a lot

Combination of things:
1.we did not hit/scrimmage once the season started under Kelly
2.even with four NFL linemen we could not hand the ball to the RB and run the ball in 4 straight years under Kelly
3.strength and conditioning was questionable
4.we looked like we were pass blocking when we ran the ball, pad level too high.
5.we only ran a handful of running plays

The two are not mutually exclusive...coaching and talent. The coaching had to be bad because all these 4* and 5* guys can't possibly have been misses. Having said that, Mubenga should have stuck to soccer goalie. He seems lost and ineffective on the football field. Curne simply doesn't have the foot speed to be an OT. Chester was tried at multiple OL positions and failed at them. The two that I think might be better than they showed at LSU are Adams and Echols..maybe Curne if willing to move to OG.
The great thing about them transferring is we have a perfectly controlled experiment going. Several of them went to other SEC schools. Will they start for THOSE teams? And if so, do they perform better than they did at LSU? This will be a great laboratory experiment where the competition will be essentially the same but different OL coaches.

Coach was terrible...players weren't good...End of story thank God most are gone...It was a putrid O-Line...

I mean… when we had good players is covered up his deficiencies, but we have never been dominant running the ball during his entire tenure here.
We fell apart in all phases this past year when the talent dipped.
He can be a bad coach, the scheme can be bad and the players can mostly suck.
some were just young but we did not see a ton of players development or recruiting after that first wave.

I said from the beginning, I don't think the players are that bad. Coaching and scheme sucked.
I know everyone loves Will Campbell.
Go back and watch him play at LSU. He looked soft and shite. He wasnt grass backing people!

The success of your offensive line is all about the scheme and fit. We did not have a QB playing worthy of reducing their not so goodness. I would say they are NOT as bad as they looked. Quarterback play can make your offensive line look much better. In my opinion, it was the scheme more than their ability to play. Of course, coaching matters, but you have to have the right people that fits your scheme.

When playing an opponent(especially smaller school) even with bad scheme at that level you should be able to physically dominant your man! One on one, push them back not fall over your own feet while skating backwards and shitting your pants on National TV!

The cream will always rise to the top. For you youngsters, that means that the best will rise to the occasion. Our 2025 OLine was awful and only a few guys were worth keeping by the new coaching staff from our roster. These guys apparently rose to the top according to the new coaching staffs evaluation of our OLine guys and were keepers. The rest were released or chose to move on to other teams.

They chose to leave — or were invited to by the new regime. Either way, don’t blame posters.
Once they leave, I don’t care about them.
