Whatever we paid Leavitt, I much prefer him over Ty Simpson.

Simpson knows this draft class is one of the worst ever. He's taking advantage of it. It's the same reason that Chambliss shouldn't blink twice about entering this year. Next year's draft class is much better.

Dumb move by him. He’s not NFL ready and passed up easy money to be a legit Heisman contender next season with the canes.

If I’m Deuce Knight, I’m taking this to Golding and asking “WTF”

These seems like a lot of hype press coming from his agent more than anything else. He is an average QB made out to be this great QB. He isn't.

He is going to be drafted in the first round. When you get that feedback from the NFL, 99% of the time you should go. Especially for him this year with a weak QB class.

Everyone tampers. Everyone. And apperently there is no dead period.

I agree. While he may sacrifice a few bucks today, he will still be paid very well, will undoubtedly go higher in the draft, but most importantly, he starts the clock on a more lucrative 2nd contract a year early if he succeeds.
This is even more of a head-scratcher for Chambliss. If he stays for a 6th season, he will be 3 of 4 years older than his top QB competition heading to the NFL. If he does succeed, that’s 1 less year of top NFL earning potential, which would be much more than what he’s being paid for a 6th season in college. And this is completely independent of the risk of injury or hurting his draft stock by not meeting or exceeding this years’ results. Just look at Nuss as proof of this.

Maybe Chambliss loves the college game too much and wants to try to get one for Ole Miss. He'll almost surely get another year granted through Miss legislation.

“All right” or “alright”?

I don't buy this as being legit. There's no way he was in that much demand.

Wait…how was he getting offers if he never entered the portal?
Surely Ole Miss, who was bitching about possible tampering from Big Brother, wasn’t tampering themselves.

JJ McCarthy went 10th overall after handing the ball off 30 times a game for 2 years. I think Simpson will be just fine.
He'll likely fall to a more stable situation after Mendoza and Moore come of the board to NYJ and LV.
Wouldn't be surprised if he goes to Pittsburgh at #21.

He declared for the draft. Anyone can contact him

2. NFL QB contracts are almost, if not always, fully guaranteed. That means that as long as he gets a big 2nd contract, he'll get all his money regardless

We are literally in it right now. Hence no visits in or out(the dead is in the middle of off campus visits for coaches as well). In any period, particularly now with agents doing the communicating, phone contact is allowed. Those same agents are also why.
