(Part 2) Change my mind: Matt McMahon is a bad basketball coach.

Since the original was inexplicably locked.
We can now add should have bumps for:
- Blowing an 18 point second half lead at home.
- Officially winning less than 1 out 4 conferences games in his tenure as a head coach at lsu.
That’s it. That’s the thread.

Yeah we know. Just give it some time and it’ll be over with.

He seems like a nice guy.

You don’t have to live this way. There is help available.

If someone changes your mind on this you should see a mental professional.

No way bro. He’s a great basketball coach!!

Too nice to coach at this level. He hasn’t pissed anyone off like BK so I assume they’ll let him finish the year out.

Yeah I have tried to give him some room, but it’s the same results for the 4th straight year. Time to cut the cord and send him packing.

How original. This topic has not been discussed enough in the past 4 years.

Might as well. Not much to be gained from letting him go middle of season.

There are several parts that go into the whole here. How good is he as an in game bench coach? How good is he at recruiting and roster management. Game planning? Does he play the right guys at the right time and put the guys he has in the best position to win.
Does he promote the program, engage with the fan base and big boosters well, use the media to his advantage in promotion of the program. Help effectively raise funds to help his program?
As I look at the list above, I wonder which of these Matt is best at. I don't think he's bad at all of the above, but I honestly don't know that he has shown me that he is above average at any of it.

Unfortunately, Coach Matt McMahon seems to be a below average SEC basketball coach. Time to move on. That is my opinion after watching this train wreck for four years.

Mac had his run and it was a train wreck. Need Verge to start searching for the next hire. Will have to pull out the checkbook and spend some money to get the right hire. He needs to do his homework and get a coach who has proven ability.

Of this list, how can an argument be made that he is even average at any of these things besides possibly in game bench coach? And that would only be because there are multiple examples of the team playing better in the second half of a game than they did after a horrendously terrible first half. And the horrendously terrible first half is due to a combination of being legitimately bad at most of the other things you listed.

Don't forget a 10 point loss to fellow bottom feeder South Carolina at home.
