Anyone seen this? William Friedkin directed it. William Petersen gets a lot of praise for Manhunter (rightfully so), but he is just as good in this. When he says that he is going to bust Rick Masters no matter what, he means it. The car chase is iconic. Wang Chung does most of the music.

A very entertaining 80’s watch. Dafoe was a great villain…

I always felt John Pankow as Petersen's partner was miscast and drags the movie down a bit. For such a big part, he feels like a 3rd lead TV detective wandered onto the set. Never did anything else.

Great 80's movie. Hard to get on streaming for a while, but was finally made available a year or so ago. Darlene Fluegel should have had a bigger career. First leading man role for Peterson. Pankow is definitely miscast.

Watched it last week and forgot how darn good it was. Should be rated among the best cop movies ever.

William Petersen

His career was on fire after his back-to-back performances in To Live and Die in L.A. and Manhunter, but he’s also claimed those roles were so emotionally exhausting that he avoided such heavy roles for the next couple of years.

He passed on a major role in Platoon and then as Henry Hill in Goodfellas. He chose smaller roles, Broadway plays, and TV movies instead of major Hollywood film productions. It was over a decade later when he resurrected his career on TV in CSI.

I get what you are saying about Pankow, however, at the end it made for a little surprise when his character transformed. The meek was turning into the bold (I am avoiding story reveals).
