The UT series signaled this team has “it” if they keep working and believing

5 or 6 clutch moments were needed to pull out 2 of 3 there and players came through in them.
We can argue all day long about whether we should have needed five or six clutch moments, but the fact remains that several guys performed in a moment where they needed to perform.
We haven’t really seen that out of the team this year until the last 10 days.
Pumped for second half of the season.

I agree IF JJ makes the necessary defensive adjustments to his lineup

Ill agree they finally started to fight back and scrap over the last 10 days and i think its a good sign for them to make the postseason. Ill still be surprised if this team ends up in omaha

Agree. This team just needs to get better defensively and continue to throw strikes and we are back in Omaha. The hitting is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

I think it's been longer than that; they are just gelling as a team, now, and we are seeing some positive results of that fight in them, if that makes sense. I think the 8-game winning streak to start the season may have given them a false sense of how good they are.
They still have a lot to clean up in the field and need some consistency at the plate, for sure. Pitching has steadily moved in the right direction, to me.

Agreed

Honestly, I won't be surprised either way.

The pitching is good enough, and improving. The lineup is good enough, and improving (despite what the rant has said all season).
The defense though…….woof. Thats what will keep them out of Omaha if it doesn’t get a lot better.

This team feels like it might be rounding a corner. Roles are being defined and they are playing better as a team.
The defense must improve, however, you can get away with a couple free bags (walks/HBP) if you can erase them with defense. That is what last year's team was so good at. The good news there is that is something you can continue to improve at over the course of the season. As the temperature heats up the ball will fly a little more as well, so the slugging will improve too, another way to mitigate mistakes on defense. However, I would love to see this team have less "swing for the fences" and more "swing for the corners and gaps" when we have runners on, especially witj RISP. The did that in the comeback vs UK and UT (Cade's heroics notwithstanding).
All that is to say, yes, the defense must improve or that will kill us in a regional/ super regional situation. I trust JJ and staff to figure it out.

The number one thing that would help this team is a solid catcher behind the plate

LSU has the 3rd best odds to win the CWS. Stay the course.

What it showed me was i can imagine what a successful run with this squad looks like now. Its not some, unspecified "if everything clicks and guys that have showed nothing all of a sudden play well" thing.
I've seen what our pitchers have. There is an acceptable top end in there.
The offense has potential and i think we can imagine what a gelled lineup looks like. There is pop. There is average. There can be clutch hitting.
Will all of it come together and do so consistently? IDK. Rarely does for more teams.
But i have seen a glimpse and thats definitely something.

Yep. If D can stop making stupid errors and actually be a competent D then LSU could make a run.

The hitting hasn’t been consistently great… but it is sufficient, if the pitching staff doesn’t give up free passes.
Hell, I think Sunday they had 6 runs, but only 2 earned?
That same story has plagued LSU all season.

Only one earned run (the one in extras). If we field the ball cleanly, the game ends in a shutout.

Hope so, but remember, Tenner isn’t a very good team

I mean we’ve seen the potential as far as hitting and pitching goes. The defense is just bad and something we are going to have to deal with. The problem has been the consistency.

The silver lining here is that out of most baseball problems (offense, pitching), defense is the easiest to fix.

If Coop comes back and gives us 4+ quality innings a weekend we can get there. Yes we need to get better in the field and we need to be able to generate more runs without the long ball but I think that is the direction we are heading. 6 and 6 is one game behind where I was hoping we would be at this point. Not ideal but doable.

Totally agree.
We may not have a KA or PS type ace, but our 1-3 (with Moore available) is pretty legit. Sheerin, Fontenot, Cowan, Guidry is pretty legit backend IMO. Unfortunately no lefties really being consistent yet.
Defense has been bad but I think with consistent playing time Pearson and Dardar will be avg at fielding their respective positions.
1b has been bad but I’m assuming the Yorke experiment is coming to a close. So it may get better or worse there.
C defense will be IMO the biggest limiting factor for any meaning post season push. You just can’t give free bases at that level of competition. I was pleasantly surprised by Yamin and am holding out hope that one of the other two takes a step forward defensively.
This team can make a run.

If this team can start playing average defense that would be a start.
