You should see his posts on the SEC rant. Huge troll...especially on that board.

Every coach has to say that, but I promise you he's not going to sell the farm to win this thing.

He probably normally wouldn't care but because we've gone ice cold he needs to use this week to get right

Agree, but down voted because no reason to be so rude. Fairly typical for social media, though.

I don’t think he’ll treat the games much differently than sec play

LSU doesn’t have the players to really mess around anyway. If guys like Floyd and Skenes can’t give them good innings the bullpen is not good enough to piece together full games.

I’d think he wants 2 games.

1 game to throw Skenes for about 4-5 innings and hopefully have Hurd or someone able to close it out.

Then 1 more game to get the bullpen a little more time.

Win those 2 and I think he won’t care about the 3rd game.

agree completely. The tournament means nothing, and can only unrest our already tired arms.

I agree. Nor do I want him to. I prefer he prioritize a run for a natty and go from there.

It's a double elimination, so he'll get at least two games.

Wednesday is a de facto (and I guess literally)"midweek" game. He's not throwing Skenes or Floyd on short rest simply to try to win that game. I assume Skenes will start on Thursday with some sort of pitch count (maybe 80 pitches or so). If LSU makes it to Friday Floyd will probably do the same thing (unless Johnson just wants to give either of those guys a week off).

LSU is locked in to a top 8 seed. This week is simply about getting guys in the best possible position to succeed next weekend. For some that may be a bit of rest. For others than may be extended work. But it would be beyond foolish to stress anyone simply to win a game or more in the SECT. For LSU this is basically a second "preseason", only against good outside competition.

They're likely a 3 or 4. What they do in Hoover probably won't change that.

IMO, the only real difference it will make is if the committee is debating between LSU and another SEC team and LSU clearly outperforms that other team they may give LSU the nod for the slightly higher seed, or vice versa. But at the end of the day that really doesn't matter unless you are trying to duck the WF side of the bracket in Omaha

Even then, it would only make a difference in seeding 1 spot, maybe 2 if we win the thing and Florida or Arky tanks it.

Much like many af the SEC bb tournament games are an afterthought Once National Championship Tournament seeding has been secured.

Team preservstion with injuries, endurance, etc...imo..only used for keeping arms warm on schedule and bats swung to get or stay in rhythm once in the position Tigers are in. ( See CKM SEC tournament).

Try to finalize the rotation and bullpen roles. Maybe tinker with the batting order a bit.

To me, playing three games would be perfect. That gets everyone some work but no one gets overworked.

His goal should be to not put undo wear and tear on any pitchers, stay injury free, give players situational playing time, and let Dylan Crews play his way out of his slump...

I don't think he doesn't care, but he might be mote interested in giving Kling, Pearson, Jones, Nippolt, etc, some swings in pressure situations over winning the tournament. If they lose, they lose...

I think he’s going to let Torina coach the SEC tournament so they won’t go too deep and get worn out.

This.

Glad we have some good baseball posters like you.

Hoover is not the end game, but coaches and team want to win it. He won't disrupt our 2 proven starters much, but will not bend over for anyone. Selfishly, hoping we pitch Skenes against Arky. Will understand if he doesn't, but the Thur. start last week helps the logic to make this his game. I want to beat AR more than any other team in baseball.

Historically, the SEC teams that have won the CWS don't make a deep run in Hoover.

You sure? 14 teams from the SEC have won natties (I think). 6 of those teams played in the championship game of the SEC tourney. 1 other made the semifinal and 1 made the quarterfinal. The other 6 made 1st or 2nd round exits. Historically, your statement doesn't hold water.

I will give you that more of the recent champs made early exits, probably in large part due to the change in the national tournament format.

He should somewhat. Last time we won the tourney good things happened.

I think if we win our first 2, we should try and win the whole thing.

I think thats what he was implying.

I think he was implying Jay has been trying to win all year so why would he stop now. As in "he obviously cares how we do in Hoover and is going to go all out", as that would somehow impact our Omaha chances?
