As many times as I've seen it I actually don't remember the movie opening with that line. Of course, I remember the ending monologue. And I think "Choose life" appears on at least one promotional ad like a poster or something.

Yeah that line would make more sense if it took place in Texas maybe. Maybe a few other states.
