That's 29 points in 23 minutes off the bench, plus 7 boards. I'd call that a game.

Couple more games like that and it’s time to shop him around and quickly. Get what we can while we can. He’s fools gold.

The cutting him should only come into play if luxury cap demands come into play from management.
“if” the tax comes into play?? What do you mean “if”? The tax line next year is 200MM, with Zion they’ll be at 198MM

31m for DJM might not fetch much.
I think Missi plus DJM could allow you to bring back close to 40m in whatever.

Yeah, missi needs to go for a real center. And I guarantee willie sold dumars on bringing in 3 years past baked looney.

If you had told me before the season that Looney would be stacking DNPs, I wouldn't have believed you. Remember that, before the season, most people thought that Queen was a power forward, not a center. Missi had a lackluster summer league, and I don't know that anyone knew what to expect from Karlo.

Looney as 4th-string center would just have seemed so bizarre.

its crazy because just last year he played 72 games for GS and it was meaningful minutes (15MPG) too...

I don't think letting Z walk is an option. We don't get anything with that money. You'd maybe have $5mil cap space and then can only sign players on your roster. We don't even have anyone to pay from the roster next season. We have to keep his $40mil in order to use it.

I did tell all of you this.

and no one believed me.

Looney doesn’t need to see the floor unless Missi or Queen are hurt or in foul trouble.
I’m not sure we could have picked a worst center in all of the league to pair with Zion. There should never be a single minute this year where Zion and Looney are on the court.

Had Looney not started his career in Golden State, he'd have fizzled out of the league after about 3 years. He's an undersized center who can't shoot and has zero athleticism to provide any threat offensively or even defensively. All he does is hustle for offensive rebounds, that's it.

inconsistent is definitely not a word that fits Zions career unless we are talking about inconsistently playing,
he consistently doesn’t play

I think Queen is our real center going forward. He’s bigger than I thought. Less of a tweener than I thought.

Not sure I want Missi as a primary center off the bench so would be happy to see him turn into a better vet center.

normal version of Z so just keep the conversation honest bro

Yeah the normal version of "Z" is literally missing more games than played through SIX SEASONS.
Hilarious that you say you want to have an honest conversation about Zion while maintaining he's one of the most consistent scorers in the league. You dont get to have that title when you miss more games than you play through 6 seasons

This is absolutely the answer. Strike now. There's no other way. And let him keep coming off the bench. It seems to motivate him. Hopefully it'll motivate someone else enough to come get him.

Our future is in our 2 rookies, making decisions to try and "win" next season is what screwed us with AD and again with Zion, why would you want to do that again?

Free up the space. We're not doing anything of note next season anyway, play the long game for 2-3 seasons out, not next season.
